Phones break. Screens crack, batteries wear out, and sometimes they just stop working for no obvious reason. If you're in Bendigo and your phone is giving you trouble, here's everything you need to know before you hand it over for repair.
Walk into any repair workshop in Bendigo and you'll see the same problems come through the door week after week. These are the repairs we handle most at Geekly:
Cracked or shattered screens are by far the most common. One drop at the wrong angle and suddenly you've got a spiderweb of cracks spreading across your display. Screen replacements are one of the most straightforward repairs — most models can be done same-day.
Battery replacements are the second most common. Phone batteries are consumable — they degrade with every charge cycle. If your phone won't hold charge through the day anymore, or shuts down randomly at 30%, the battery is almost certainly the issue. A replacement is quick and makes an immediate difference.
Charging port issues tend to creep up gradually. You start holding the cable at a certain angle to get it to charge, then one day it stops working entirely. Charging ports can be cleaned in some cases, but full replacements are often necessary and usually done in under an hour.
Water damage is one where speed matters. If your phone has been submerged or soaked, the priority is to get it switched off and into a repair workshop as quickly as possible. The longer it stays powered on after water exposure, the more damage occurs. Our technicians will assess the extent of the damage and work through a treatment process — results vary depending on how quickly you act.
Software issues — boot loops, being locked out, a phone that's running unbearably slow — are often fixable without any hardware work at all. A proper diagnosis usually resolves the problem faster than a factory reset would.
Pricing depends on the model and the type of repair. At Geekly, we use a transparent parts + labour pricing model — no hidden fees, no surprises at the counter.
As a general guide:
Screen replacements vary significantly by model. An older mid-range Android screen is considerably cheaper than an iPhone 15 Pro Max display. We list estimated pricing by model on each device page so you know what to expect before you come in.
Battery replacements are typically one of the more affordable repairs — older models more so than current flagships.
Charging port repairs sit in a similar range to batteries for most models.
Water damage assessment is assessed on a case-by-case basis, as the extent of damage varies widely.
The best way to get an accurate price is to submit a repair enquiry with your model and fault, and our team will get back to you quickly.
Not all repair services operate the same way. Some retailers act as a middleman — they take your phone, send it to a repair centre elsewhere, and hand it back a week or two later. Others complete all repairs on-site.
At Geekly, every repair is done 100% in-house by our own technicians at our Williamson Street workshop in Bendigo's CBD. That means:
Faster turnaround. Most common repairs are completed same-day. There's no transit time, no waiting for a courier, no unknown handling of your device.
Direct accountability. When repairs are done in-house, the technician who repaired your phone is right there if something needs to be followed up. That accountability matters.
A 1-year repair warranty. We back every repair with a 12-month warranty. If an issue comes back that's related to our repair work, we'll fix it.
The short answer is yes — in terms of parts sourcing and complexity, not in terms of quality of repair.
iPhones use Apple-specific components, and newer models include features like Face ID and True Tone display pairing that require careful handling during a screen replacement. Our lead Apple technician, Angus Smith, specialises in Apple device repairs specifically.
Android phones span a much wider range of manufacturers — Samsung, Google, Huawei, OnePlus, Oppo and more — each with their own parts ecosystem. Our smart device technicians, Daniel Hewitt and Bradley Rose, handle Android repairs day in, day out across all major brands.
Either way, you're dealing with a technician who's done your specific repair many times before.
A few things that will make the process smoother:
Back up your data if you can. Most repairs don't require a factory reset, but it's always good practice to have a recent backup before any device work.
Note down your passcode. For some repairs and for post-repair testing, the technician will need to verify the display and touch are working correctly. Having your passcode ready avoids delays.
Bring the phone in as soon as possible after water exposure. Don't wait. Don't try to charge it. Just bring it in.
Check your warranty status. If your phone is under manufacturer warranty or you have insurance cover, it's worth checking whether the repair might be covered before paying out of pocket.
